PepsiCo India introduces Pepsi Black bottles made from 100% recycled plastic

With Pepsi Black, PepsiCo India reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and plastic circularity by releasing India's first 100% rPET (recycled plastic) bottles in the carbonated beverage category. This initiative is part of PepsiCo India's objective to create a positive value chain through a circular, inclusive economy in which packaging is never wasted.

 

George Kovoor, senior vice president, beverages and sustainability, PepsiCo India said, "We are encouraged by the measures taken by the Government to promote a circular economy in India. We are excited to introduce Pepsi Black 100% rPET bottles. This is an important milestone in our sustainability journey, which is supported by our objective to create a positive value chain, and this launch is yet another step in that direction.We will continue to learn and evolve as we work to build a strong ecosystem while increasing the use of recycled content in our packaging.

The Pepsi Black rPET bottles are composed of 100% recycled plastic and are manufactured in India in collaboration with the bottling partner, Varun Beverages.

In keeping with its long-term environmental aims, PepsiCo India is committed to finding new solutions, reducing its carbon footprint, and embracing sustainable practises such as reuse and refilling that will excite consumers.
