OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Capabilities with Free Daily AI Image Generation
ChatGPT Now Offers Free AI Image Generation, Allowing Users to Create Two Images Daily with DALL·E 3, Gradual Rollout in Progress
OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT users can now generate up to two AI images per day for free, starting Friday, August 9, 2024. This marks a significant expansion for the platform, which previously reserved image generation capabilities for its paid Plus and Enterprise users.
ChatGPT first introduced image generation in 2023, leveraging DALL·E 3, OpenAI's advanced text-to-image AI model. While competitors like Google Gemini and Microsoft CoPilot have long offered similar features, this move now brings a free image generation option to ChatGPT's wider user base.
"We’re rolling out the ability for ChatGPT Free users to create up to two images per day with DALL·E 3," OpenAI shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The feature allows users to generate images for various purposes, such as enhancing presentations, personalizing greeting cards, or visualizing specific concepts.
DALL·E 3, which powers this feature, was introduced in October 2023 and is known for its ability to render intricate details, including text, hands, and faces. It excels in responding to detailed prompts and supports both landscape and portrait aspect ratios.
The new feature is being gradually rolled out to all users, giving the broader ChatGPT community access to powerful image creation tools.
