Talent Development:

We’ve created more than 200 original titles and shot in more than 100 locations in India, building on more than a decade of operations in the country', Netflix said. The new initiative aims at empowering the next generation of storytellers in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) ecosystem.

“The programme will focus on equipping emerging creators with industry relevant skills while strengthening education, industry collaboration and creator capability development,” the company said. The move is in line with the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat @ 2047 vision, supporting the growth of the country’s creative economy, said Netflix.

"India has always been one of the world's greatest storytelling nations. Over the past decade, we've had the privilege of seeing Indian stories connect with audiences not just across India, but around the world," Sarandos said.

"As we begin our next decade here, we believe our greatest investment is in the people who will tell India's next generation of stories. The Netflix India Storytelling Initiative reflects our long-term commitment to strengthening India's creative ecosystem by creating more opportunities for emerging creators," he added.

The first phase of the initiative will be youth skilling and will see collaborations with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

Industry Collaboration:

As part of the collaboration with IICT, Netflix will co-create industry-focused curricula on Visual Effects Mastery and Media Technology Workflows. The company will also offer 100 scholarships for students enrolling in in-person programs such as interactive comics, sequential art, virtual art department content creation, character animation, esports and gaming management.

Netflix has also partnered with NFDC to promote talent development in film and television accessibility services. It will train audio description writers and voice artists to improve accessibility for visually and hearing impaired audiences, in accordance with international standards and local storytelling traditions.

The company said the initiative is expected to create new opportunities for emerging creators while reinforcing India's position as a global hub for entertainment production and creative innovation.
