Meta Issues AI-Driven Advertising Guidelines to Improve Campaign Results

Meta has unveiled new recommendations for advertisers across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Threads, and Audience Network, aiming to help brands maximise campaign performance through its AI-powered ad systems.

The update follows CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s remarks during Meta’s Q2 2025 earnings call, where he reported that AI-driven improvements had delivered approximately 5% more ad conversions on Instagram and 3% on Facebook. He attributed this to leveraging more data signals over longer periods to enhance the company’s AI ad recommendation engine, while expanding it to additional platforms.

Meta’s new guidelines encourage advertisers to:

  • Use Advantage+ placements to automatically allocate budgets to platforms where ads are most likely to perform.

  • Adopt Advantage+ creative with placement customisation tools to generate multiple ad variations and optimise them for different formats and placements.

While Meta advises against removing placements—warning it could limit the potential of Advantage+—it acknowledges that placement restrictions may be necessary for brands with strict safety requirements.

Long-term, Meta aims to expand AI integration across every stage of advertising, from targeting and bidding to creative production. However, no fixed timeline for full implementation has been announced.

The move underscores Meta’s commitment to delivering stronger returns for advertisers through data-driven automation. Early results, as Zuckerberg highlighted, already suggest measurable performance gains.
