Legacy of a Legend: Piyush Pandey Enters The One Club’s Creative Hall of Fame

Indian advertising icon Piyush Pandey has received one of the highest global honours in the creative industry, with his posthumous induction into The One Club for Creativity’s Creative Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2026.

The prestigious induction ceremony took place on September 16 at Capitale in New York, coming nearly a year after the advertising veteran passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 70.

A Pioneer of Cultural Storytelling

Over a stellar four-decade tenure at Ogilvy—where he eventually rose to become the Global Chief Creative Officer—Pandey revolutionized Indian advertising. He moved the industry away from dry, westernized templates by weaving everyday Indian language, sharp humor, and deeply relatable cultural nuances directly into brand narratives. Along the way, he served as a vital mentor to generations of creative talent.

His portfolio includes some of the most enduring and culturally resonant campaigns in Indian history, such as:

  • Cadbury Dairy Milk: ‘Asli Swaad Zindagi Ka’
  • Fevicol: The iconic, long-running humor-driven ad series
  • UNICEF: The nationwide polio eradication campaign featuring Amitabh Bachchan

Ogilvy Pays Tribute to Its Creative Pillar

At the New York ceremony, Ogilvy honored its former leader through a dedicated tribute film and a commemorative program advertisement. The tribute highlighted his lasting creative legacy, his deep commitment to mentorship, and his monumental contribution to public health communication through the Indian polio awareness effort.

Joining a Distinguished Global Cohort

First established in 1961, the Creative Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of extraordinary achievement and influence across advertising, design, and education.

Pandey was inducted alongside an esteemed group of global industry stalwarts in the 2026 class:

  • Rosie Arnold (formerly of BBH)
  • Janet Champ (formerly of Wieden+Kennedy)
  • John C Jay
  • Caroline R. Jones
  • Joyce King Thomas (creator of Mastercard’s iconic ‘Priceless’ campaign)

A Decorated Career

The Hall of Fame honor adds to a string of major national and international accolades. Pandey was previously awarded the Padma Shri in 2016 and the Padma Bhushan in 2026, solidifying his position as a transformative force who permanently redefined Indian creative culture.
