Birla Opus Paints Celebrates Onam with Community-Focused Campaign

Birla Opus Paints has launched its Onam campaign with a new film celebrating the spirit of community, shared traditions and togetherness through Kerala’s iconic Pookalam tradition.

The film is set in Kerala and revolves around a young woman and her grandmother preparing their newly painted house for Onam. Inspired by her childhood wherein she used to make community Pookalams, she unites her housing society to make one Pookalam, highlighting the communal spirit of the festival.

The campaign revolves around the message, "Many Colours Make a Pookalam, Many Hearts Make an Onam". The floral arrangement is used as a metaphor for unity, community participation and shared festive experiences.

Festive Togetherness:

Commenting on the campaign, Inderpreet Singh, Head of Marketing, Birla Opus Paints said, “The film resonates with the values that are at the core of the festival.

"Onam is a celebration of togetherness, gratitude and new beginnings. This campaign highlights how culture, community and camaraderie play a pivotal role in making festivals more joyous," Singh said.

"The film reflects our belief that colours have the power not only to transform spaces, but also to bring people closer, creating memories and connections that last long after the celebrations are over," he added.

"The campaign is inspired by the notion that people give meaning to the spaces they create," said Sachin Kamble, Chief Creative Officer, Leo South Asia. "At Birla Opus, we believe that the spaces we design are ultimately brought to life by the people who live in them. That thought became the inspiration for this film," Kamble said.

"The Pookalam isn't just a beautiful symbol of Onam, it's a tradition that brings people together. “We wanted to celebrate the idea that colours and flowers are the backdrop, but it’s the shared moments and relationships that make a place feel like home,” he added.

The campaign is an attempt to reiterate Birla Opus Paints’ brand message of the transformational power of colour not only in homes but also in bringing communities together during festive celebrations.
