Asian Paints Names GCPL CEO Sudhir Sitapati as Independent Director
Asian Paints has appointed GCPL CEO Sudhir Sitapati as an independent director and reappointed Milind Sarwate for a second five-year term on its board.
Asian Paints has appointed Sudhir Sitapati, Managing Director and CEO of Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL), as an additional and independent director to its board for a term of five years. The company has also reappointed veteran corporate leader Milind Sarwate as an independent director for a second consecutive term.
The company said Sitapati will take over from May 29, 2026 to May 28, 2031 in a regulatory filing on Friday. Also approved was the reappointment of Sarwate for a new five-year term from October 21, 2026 to October 20, 2031.
Sitapati, 49, has been the Managing Director and CEO of Godrej Consumer Products since 2021, leading the FMCG company’s strategic transformation in key emerging markets. He is presently the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) FMCG Committee and has been co-chairman of the CII National Committee on Food Processing.

Board Strengthening:
Prior to joining Godrej Consumer Products, Sitapati worked with Unilever for over 20 years in leadership roles across India, Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa. His last role in Hindustan Unilever was Executive Director, Foods and Refreshments. He is also the author of The CEO Factory.
Asian Paints has also re-appointed independent director Milind Sarwate, 66, for a second term.
Sarwate is a veteran finance and corporate governance professional and currently serves as an independent director on the boards of CEAT, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, OmniActive Health Technologies and Viyash Scientific.

He was previously with Godrej Soaps, which was later reorganised into Godrej Consumer Products and Marico in leadership roles. He has been an independent director on the boards of various listed and unlisted companies over the past two decades.
