OpenAI’s New ChatGPT Campaign Focuses on Everyday Moments, Not AI Hype
OpenAI’s latest ChatGPT campaign focuses on everyday human experiences, using nostalgia and storytelling to highlight the chatbot’s practical value.
OpenAI is taking a different approach to marketing artificial intelligence, shifting the spotlight away from grand promises about the future and focusing instead on how ChatGPT can help with everyday life.
The company has unveiled a new ad campaign for ChatGPT, created by New York creative agency Isle of Any, that spotlights the chatbot's part in small, but significant human moments.
According to reports, Instead of focusing on artificial intelligence as a technology that can revolutionise industries or solve humanity’s greatest problems, the ad campaign positions ChatGPT as a useful companion for dealing with everyday situations.

Human Connection:
One of the centrepieces of the campaign is a 30-second television commercial called “Dish”, which tells the story of a young man preparing a home-cooked meal for someone he likes.
The ad begins with a young woman sampling the meal in the man’s flat. At first she's unsure but her first bite quickly turns into approval.
The audience only finds out how the meal was put together then.
The screen shows the prompt the man entered into ChatGPT: “I need a recipe that says, ‘I like you, but want to play it cool.’”
The chatbot comes back with a proposed menu: “Lemon-Garlic Butter Pasta with Cherry Tomatoes,” and some encouraging words that sound like they come from a supportive friend: “Above all, don’t sweat it. You’re good.”

Beyond Technology:
The commercial is known for its nostalgic look. The flat is overflowing with books, vintage furniture and a retro cooker. The soundtrack is "Fool" by indie artist Perfume Genius. It all feels very analogue.
The creative approach deliberately places human relationships and emotions at the center of the story, while the technology itself largely takes a back seat.
OpenAI seems to be positioning ChatGPT throughout the wider campaign less as a futuristic innovation and more as a practical, everyday assistant that can help users solve practical problems, make decisions and navigate personal situations.
The strategy is a departure from many artificial intelligence advertisements that highlight technological breakthroughs, automation, or productivity gains.
Instead, the latest messaging from the company suggests the most relatable value of AI might be helping people with the mundane whether it’s planning a meal, organising a task or finding the right words to say.
The campaign comes as there is a growing push to make artificial intelligence less scary and more human-centred as competition heats up among AI companies vying for mainstream adoption.
OpenAI is betting that the future of AI might be best explained by simple dinner and romance experiences that people already understand, rather than a complex technology narrative.
