‘Na Savdhaan, Na Alert’: Anup Soni Stars in Redmi’s New ‘Crimes Against Phones’ Campaign

Redmi India teams up with Idiotic Media for ‘Crimes Against Phones,’ featuring Anup Soni flipping his iconic Crime Patrol persona to highlight the Redmi 17 Pro series features.

‘Na Savdhaan, Na Alert’: Anup Soni Stars in Redmi’s New ‘Crimes Against Phones’ Campaign

Redmi India has unveiled a four-part digital campaign for its newly launched Redmi 17 Pro and Redmi 17 Pro Max, turning everyday smartphone mishaps into playful fictional offences. Titled ‘Crimes Against Phones’, the campaign stars actor and television host Anup Soni alongside popular digital creators Anuj, Haardik, Govind, and Ruhee.

Conceptualized in partnership with creator-led agency Idiotic Media, the campaign leverages Soni’s iconic association with the crime-investigation genre. In a witty twist, his famous Crime Patrol warning is reworked into “Na Savdhaan raahein, na alert rahein”—assuring users that they no longer need to tread lightly when using their devices.

Framing Everyday Smartphone Habits as Fictional Offences

Rather than relying on conventional feature lists, the campaign uses humor to connect everyday user behavior directly to the technical capabilities of the Redmi 17 Pro series across four episodic films:

  • Accidental Drops & Rough Handling: Highlights the device's enhanced durability.
  • Extended Usage & Binge-Watching: Demonstrates high-capacity battery power and fast charging.
  • Heavy Multitasking & Gaming: Showcases high-performance processing capability.
  • Continuous Social Media Filming: Put the advanced camera features to the test.

Product Truth Meets Cultural Relevance

Explaining the creative vision behind the campaign, Ritij Khurana, Associate Director of Marketing at Xiaomi India, stated:

"Effective brand communication today is about finding the intersection of cultural relevance, consumer behaviour and product truth. Anup Soni’s association with Crime Patrol made him a natural fit for this idea. By flipping his familiar catchphrase to 'Na Savdhaan raahein, na alert rahein', we brought a recognisable pop-culture persona into a playful digital format, complemented by creators who connect with younger audiences.

By using humour as the storytelling device, we aimed to make product capabilities more relatable and memorable, moving beyond conventional feature-led communication."

Connecting Pop Culture with Gen Z Audiences

By pairing Soni’s authoritative screen presence with creators who naturally connect with younger demographics, the campaign adapts the classic crime-docudrama format into short, digital-first narrative entertainment.

Sankalp Samant, Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer at Idiotic Media, added: "Anup Soni’s voice already means ‘something has gone wrong’ to an entire generation of Indians. We flipped that: instead of warning people, he encourages them to do their worst to the phone. Pairing him with creators who speak Gen Z’s language let a feature story travel like entertainment, not like an ad."
