JioHotstar Hits 500 Million MAUs, Becomes FY26 Growth Engine for JioStar
JioHotstar boosted JioStar’s FY26 performance with record user growth, strong sports viewership, and higher revenue and profits.
JioHotstar has become one of the biggest names in India’s digital media space showing strong growth and record-breaking viewership in FY26. Backed by Reliance Industries’ media arm JioStar the platform has expanded rapidly in both streaming and television powered mainly by live sports and strong entertainment content.
In the fourth quarter of FY26 JioStar’s media business reported a gross revenue of ₹9,784 crore with revenue from operations at ₹8,372 crore. EBITDA stood at ₹827 crore giving a margin of 9.9 percent. Profit after tax came in at ₹419 crore. In the previous quarter EBITDA was higher at ₹1,303 crore with a margin of 18.9 percent.

Strong Full-Year Growth:
On a full-year basis the company saw strong expansion. Gross revenue rose to ₹36,248 crore while revenue from operations reached ₹31,048 crore. EBITDA increased to ₹4,885 crore with margins improving to 15.7 percent from 8.1 per cent in FY25. Profit after tax jumped sharply to ₹3,210 crore compared with ₹229 crore a year earlier.
Growth was driven mainly by strong sports programming including the T20 World Cup Women’s Premier League and bilateral cricket series. Entertainment content also helped increase user engagement. Digital subscriptions continued to rise quarter-on-quarter supported by new pricing plans. The platform also introduced AI-led conversational discovery through a partnership with OpenAI along with in-app commerce features and a redesigned interface.
On television JioStar kept its leadership position with a 34.2 per cent entertainment viewership share reaching more than 810 million viewers. The company said IPL 2026 started strongly reaching over 515 million viewers across TV and digital during its opening weekend. Entertainment remained strong across Hindi and regional markets while international content and digital originals further boosted engagement.

Streaming Growth Momentum Continues:
Overall JioHotstar’s performance in FY26 highlights its rapid rise as a leading streaming platform in India supported by sports entertainment technology upgrades and growing user numbers.
During the year the platform also reached around 500 million monthly active users making it one of the largest streaming services in the region. Its record peak of 72.5 million concurrent viewers during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final showed its ability to handle massive live sports traffic. The company said this scale was supported by strong technology systems and rising demand for digital sports viewing. With continued investment in content pricing changes and new digital features JioHotstar aims to further strengthen its position across both mobile and connected TV screens in India’s fast-growing media market.
Overall the company expects continued growth across streaming and television segments in the coming years ahead globally.
