Google Introduces Easier iPhone-to-Android Switching With Android 17
Google's Android 17 introduces a new migration tool that makes switching from iPhone to Android faster and easier.
At the same time, Google is rolling out a new migration experience in Android 17 that will make it even easier for users to switch from an iPhone to an Android device by allowing wireless transfer of more types of data without having to download a separate app.
The new migration tool is built directly into Android 17, and builds on Google’s existing switching experience by simplifying the device setup and reducing the manual steps needed to switch platforms.
The updated tool now also supports Google Account details, saved passwords, Wi-Fi credentials and eSIM profiles, as well as transferring photos, videos, contacts, messages and calendars, so users can carry over more of their digital data during the migration process.

Seamless Migration:
Google says the integrated experience eliminates several setup hurdles that previously made switching from iOS to Android more time-consuming.
The feature is currently being rolled out on select Google Pixel devices and is pre-loaded on Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8, announced at the company's recent Galaxy Unpacked event.
The migration experience will be gradually rolled out to more Android smartphones in the coming months, Google said.

The launch comes as tech companies adapt to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), which mandates greater data portability across competing platforms to reduce consumer lock-in. The regulation has also prompted companies such as Apple and Google to streamline processes such as eSIM transfers.
The new migration experience is also part of Google’s broader strategy to clear the path for iPhone users considering switching to Android, especially as competition heats up in the premium smartphone and foldable device markets.
