Wow! Momo Foods Prepares Overseas QSR Launch: Enters Sri Lanka, Sets Sight on UAE & US Expansion

Leading Indian quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand Wow! Momo Foods is officially embarking on its international QSR expansion journey. The company is set to launch its first overseas QSR outlets in Sri Lanka by late 2026, marking a pivotal step in scaling its homegrown business model across global territories.

To power this entry, Wow! Momo Foods has partnered with Softlogic Corporation as its master franchisee. The initial rollout features three flagship outlets across Colombo:

  • One Galle Face Mall: Hosting a Wow! Momo Asia format outlet.
  • Havelock City Mall: A high-traffic food court presence.
  • Arcade Independence Square: A dedicated standalone restaurant location.

The brand aims to scale its Sri Lankan footprint to 20 outlets within two years, using the market to refine its operational model and evaluate consumer reception for future international ventures.

Cultivating Global Footprints through Consumer-Centric Adaptation

Scaling a QSR brand across international borders requires more than just replicating what works domestically. Commenting on the strategic entry into Sri Lanka, Sagar Daryani, Co-founder & CEO of Wow! Momo Foods, emphasized the importance of localization and market listening:

"When you build a brand in India, you naturally start wondering whether the same love for the product can travel beyond the country. But going global is not about assuming that what works here will automatically work everywhere. It is about listening, learning, and adapting. Sri Lanka is our first real opportunity to do that with our QSR business."

Strategic Blueprint: Next Stop UAE and the US Market

Beyond Sri Lanka, Wow! Momo Foods is actively laying the groundwork for further international expansion across key regions:

  • Middle East Expansion: The brand is evaluating key locations in the UAE—including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah—and is currently negotiating with prospective local partners under Joint Venture (JV) and Master Franchisee structures.
  • US Market Entrance: Armed with operational insights from Sri Lanka and the UAE, the company plans to target the United States after two years, tailoring its menu, store formats, and partnership structures to local tastes.

FMCG Network Strength: A 14-Country Retail Ecosystem

While the QSR business is taking its first steps abroad, the company’s retail arm, Wow! FMCG, has already established a robust international footprint across 14 countries—including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, the UK, Germany, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.

Key highlights of the FMCG operation include:

  • Distribution & Presence: Over 1,000 international touchpoints spanning modern trade, e-commerce platforms, and commercial food supply chains.
  • Retail Partnerships: Collaborations with major retailers like LuLu Group International, Noon, Amazon Middle East, and Mustafa Centre (Singapore).
  • Product Portfolio: Branded momos, packaged noodles, cup noodles, smileys, and kulfi supplied to retail channels, international cafes, and commercial kitchens.

Highlighting the growth strategy, Mithun Appaiah, CEO of Wow! Sales, shared:

"Our FMCG journey has been built market by market, with a strong focus on understanding local consumer behaviour, building the right distribution partnerships and creating a portfolio that can scale across diverse markets... Our next phase is about going deeper in existing markets, entering new geographies and strengthening our retail, e-commerce and foodservice ecosystem."

By pairing an established FMCG retail presence with a strategic QSR rollout, Wow! Momo Foods is positioning itself to build a sustainable, multi-channel global footprint.
