WhatsApp to Roll Out Voice Message Transcriptions for All Android Users
WhatsApp’s latest beta introduces voice message transcriptions, expanding a feature previously limited to Google Messages on Pixel devices to all Android users
WhatsApp is set to introduce a new feature that will transcribe voice messages for all Android users, expanding beyond its previous availability on Google Messages for Pixel devices. This long-awaited feature, reported by 9to5Google, is now ready for release and will support multiple languages.
Upon activation, WhatsApp will notify users with a pop-up confirming that transcripts are available for incoming voice messages. To use this feature, users will need to download a language pack for transcription. Initially, five languages will be supported: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi.
After downloading the necessary language pack, the audio will be analyzed to generate a transcript, which will be stored on the device. Notably, voice messages will remain encrypted, ensuring user privacy.
The feature is currently being rolled out to select users in the beta program and is expected to become widely available in the coming weeks.
