Star Sports sets the stage for an apology ‘mauka’ before T20 World Cup
The latest 'Mauka' campaign installment was created and conceptualized by Disney Star’s in-house team, continuing their tradition of engaging and impactful advertising
The anticipation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is building as cricket fans eagerly await the epic India vs Pakistan clash on June 9th, 2024. This highly anticipated match, often dubbed the ‘Greatest Rivalry’ in sports history, will be broadcast live and exclusively on Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar.
In the lead-up to this electrifying encounter, Star Sports Network has unveiled its latest promo, bringing back the beloved ‘Mauka Mauka’ characters. This campaign, created by Disney Star's in-house team, humorously depicts the rivalry through the playful banter between Indian fan Ratan and Pakistani fan Altaf. The promo highlights iconic moments, such as Ratan’s sleeveless Dhoni jersey from India’s 2007 World Cup win and the sledgehammer after Pakistan’s 2012 defeat, symbolizing India’s historical dominance in ICC events. However, Pakistan’s first victory over India in the 2021 T20 World Cup adds an exciting twist, making this upcoming match a must-watch.
Targeting casual cricket fans who tune in for major events, the campaign uses various in-house platforms to build excitement for the match. The promo film was launched with comments from cricket legends. Misbah Ul Haq noted India’s consistent World Cup success against Pakistan, while Harbhajan Singh reflected on the unforgettable feeling of winning the World Cup.
The campaign emphasizes the intense rivalry between the two cricketing nations and the off-field banter among fans. The 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams in a revamped format, with each team playing four games in the initial group stage.
India, placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and USA, will begin their campaign against Ireland in New York on June 5, 2024. The much-anticipated match against Pakistan will follow on June 9, at the same venue. India will then face co-hosts USA on June 12 and conclude their group stage matches against Canada on June 15. All of India’s group stage matches will be broadcast live at 8:00 PM IST on Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar, ensuring fans don't miss a moment of the action.
