Ola Cabs Switches to In-House Maps, Saves Rs 100 Crore
Ola Cabs replaces Google Maps with Ola Maps, saving Rs 100 crore annually, after migrating its workload to in-house AI firm Krutrim.
By making this change, the firm expects to cut costs by Rs 100 crore annually.
Ola Cabs, the ride-hailing giant, has transitioned from using Google Maps to its proprietary Ola Maps, resulting in significant annual cost savings of around Rs 100 crore.
"Following our exit from Azure last month, we have now fully transitioned from Google Maps. Previously, we spent Rs 100 crore annually, but this month, we've reduced that to zero by switching to our in-house Ola Maps! Update your Ola app if needed," announced Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and chairman of Ola Group.
This move comes after Ola Group successfully migrated its entire workload to its in-house artificial intelligence (AI) firm, Krutrim, three months post ending its partnership with Microsoft Azure.
In May, Aggarwal announced on X that the firm was ending its association with Microsoft Azure and would shift the entire workload to Krutrim within a week. During the launch of Krutrim AI, the company also disclosed that the firm would offer mapping solutions within its cloud services.
