Hyundai IONIQ 5 Achieves Record for Highest Altitude Change by EV

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has proudly announced a groundbreaking milestone: its flagship electric SUV, the Hyundai IONIQ 5, has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Greatest Altitude Change by an Electric Car.

This remarkable achievement was accomplished by a professional team from Evo India, who took the IONIQ 5 on a challenging journey spanning 5802 meters of altitude change. Starting from the breathtaking Umling La Pass in Leh Ladakh—the highest drivable point in the world at an elevation of 5799 meters—the journey concluded at Kuttanad in Kerala, which lies 3 meters below sea level.

Covering over 4900 kilometers in just 14 days, the team traversed through some of India’s most extreme and diverse terrains. From the freezing Himalayan peaks to the humid coastal regions of Kerala, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 demonstrated exceptional resilience, performance, and advanced engineering.
