HGS Appoints Hemlata Sharma to Lead Retail Business Across NXTDIGITAL Platforms
HGS appoints Hemlata Sharma to lead NXTDIGITAL retail and broadband business, focusing on growth, distribution, and expanding digital reach across India’s evolving media landscape.
Hinduja Global Solutions has appointed Hemlata Sharma to lead its retail business across NXTDIGITAL Media Group, covering satellite services, cable, and retail broadband. The move comes as the company looks to strengthen its presence in India’s evolving television and internet ecosystem, where traditional distribution models are steadily merging with digital platforms.
Sharma brings over 25 years of experience across media, broadcasting, and telecommunications. In her new role, she will be responsible for driving business growth, shaping distribution strategy, and building retail partnerships for NXTDIGITAL’s DTV services and ONE Broadband brand across India. With full profit and loss responsibility, her focus will be on scaling operations while improving the group’s position in a competitive market that now includes DTV, IPTV, OTT, and broadband players.
Her appointment reflects a larger shift in the industry. As consumers increasingly move toward bundled services that combine television, internet, and streaming, companies are focusing on strengthening their last mile reach and distribution networks. This makes leadership roles that combine telecom, media, and consumer understanding more critical than ever.
Before joining HGS, Sharma spent over a decade at Zee Media Corporation, where she served as Head of Distribution, Research and CRM. During this time, she managed nationwide distribution strategies and led consumer insight initiatives for a wide portfolio of news channels. Her experience in handling both distribution and audience data positions her well to navigate a market that is becoming more data driven.
Earlier in her career, she held senior roles at TEN Sports Network, where she was involved in the relaunch of the Ten Sports bouquet, and at Bharti Airtel as General Manager Operations, where she handled marketing and operational responsibilities across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This cross sector experience across broadcasting and telecom gives her a strong understanding of how content and connectivity now work together.
Commenting on the appointment, Vynsley Fernandes, Whole time Director at Hinduja Global Solutions, said, “Hemlata brings a proven track record in leading large scale businesses across B2B and B2C markets. She joins us at a time when we are strengthening national and regional teams across retail product development, sales, and customer experience. We are confident that her leadership skills, business acumen, and operational discipline will help us accelerate growth in key areas.”
Sharma said, “HGS and NXTDIGITAL are respected brands in India’s media ecosystem and have always been ahead of the curve in innovation. I believe that my experience across broadcast distribution, telecom operations, and digital media strategy can help strengthen the growth roadmap as the media group continues to scale digital entertainment services and broadband connectivity nationwide.”
The appointment also aligns with the company’s broader push through initiatives like Project Ganga, aimed at expanding digital connectivity. For brands and advertisers, a stronger NXTDIGITAL network could mean better access to regional audiences and more targeted distribution. For consumers, it signals improved service quality and more integrated entertainment and internet offerings as competition across telecom and media players continues to intensify.
