Blinkit’s 10-Minute Ambulance Service Revolutionizes Emergency Healthcare

India's emergency response system has long been criticized for delays, a stark contrast to the speedy delivery of services like food or goods. A memorable scene from the movie 3 Idiots highlights this disparity, questioning why a pizza can arrive in 30 minutes, but an ambulance cannot.

In a groundbreaking move, Blinkit, a prominent quick commerce platform, has introduced an ambulance service with a guaranteed 10-minute response time, addressing this critical gap in emergency healthcare.

The service was launched on January 2, 2025, in Gurugram, starting with five Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances. Users can book these ambulances directly through the Blinkit app. Announcing the initiative on LinkedInAlbinder Dhindsa, founder of Blinkit, revealed plans to expand the service to major cities across India within the next two years.

The ambulances are fully equipped with life-saving tools, including oxygen cylindersAutomated External Defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each vehicle is staffed with a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a professional driver to ensure efficient care during emergencies.

Dhindsa clarified that the initiative is not profit-driven but aims to remain affordable and accessible, emphasizing Blinkit’s commitment to addressing gaps in India’s emergency response system.

This is not Blinkit’s first innovative venture. In 2022, the company launched a doorstep printout delivery service and has since expanded into diverse categories, offering products like the iPhone 15PlayStation, and Lenskart glasses.
