Beyond the Occasion: Huma Qureshi and Dressfolk Launch Handwoven Saree Label 'Freefall'

A Modern Take on Heritage Weaves

Actor Huma Qureshi has teamed up with Indian handloom brand Dressfolk to launch Freefall, a saree label designed to redefine how modern women interact with traditional attire. Built on the concept of centering the wearer rather than the event, the brand aims to make handwoven sarees an effortless, everyday choice rather than a garment reserved solely for special occasions.

Craftsmanship and Regional Tradition

Freefall blends contemporary aesthetic sensibilities with traditional weaving techniques sourced directly from master artisans across Chanderi, Varanasi, and Kutch. Reflecting the intensive labor behind authentic Indian handlooms, every saree in the inaugural collection requires over 50 hours of meticulous handwork to create.

Bridging Tradition and Everyday Wear

The label draws heavy inspiration from Qureshi's personal style and connection to the saree. Explaining the vision behind the venture, Qureshi noted that the goal was to capture the intersection of heritage and modern living, producing sarees that retain their artistic soul while remaining comfortable and true to the wearer's individuality.

Expanding the Reach of Indian Handlooms

Dressfolk serves as the design, production, and craftsmanship backbone of the brand. Nitin Mehrotra, Founder of Dressfolk, highlighted that the collaboration focuses on presenting deeply rooted craft traditions within a modern context, ensuring artisanal heritage is accessible and relevant to a broader contemporary audience without losing its authenticity.
