Elon Musk's social media platform X has launched a new feature called React with Video, allowing users to respond to posts with recorded videos rather than simple reposts or text-based quote posts.

The feature is designed to provide users with more ways to participate in conversations on the platform. X is marketing it as an alternative to the traditional Repost function giving creators and users another format to share opinions, commentary and reactions.

Announcing the launch, X Head of Product Nikita Bier said that commentary remains central to the platform and that video provides a more expressive medium for users to communicate their perspectives.

Creator-Focused Features:

This feature should be a hit with creators, influencers and commentators who are always reacting to news events, trends, cultural moments and discussions taking place on the platform.

X is allowing users to convey tone, emotion and facial expressions in ways that text-based posts often cannot, by allowing video responses.

React with Video is currently available for iOS devices. The company states support for Android devices and web users will be added in the coming months.

The launch is part of a broader set of changes to the creator ecosystem on X.

According to reports, the platform has said in recent months it will scrap its Communities feature, changed its creator revenue-sharing scheme, launched Paid Partnership labels and tested advertising formats that connect products directly to posts.

X has also introduced new elements for its Creator Subscriptions product, including exclusive discussion threads and shareable subscription cards.

Earlier this year, the platform began rolling out measures to limit the visibility and monetisation of content it deemed low-value or clickbait.

The launch of React with Video is just one of X’s recent moves to diversify content formats and provide creators with more tools to engage their audiences on the platform.
