WPP Names Kevin Johnson as New President for Canada Operations

WPP has announced Kevin Johnson, currently CEO of GroupM Canada, as the new President of WPP Canada. Johnson, who has been leading GroupM Canada since November 2021, will continue in his role as GroupM CEO while taking on additional responsibilities at WPP.

In a LinkedIn update, WPP highlighted Johnson’s deep experience in media investment and client leadership, stating that he will use his expertise to drive success for Canadian clients and support the WPP Canada team. Johnson himself shared his enthusiasm for the new role on LinkedIn, expressing excitement to collaborate with the broader WPP network while maintaining his close ties with GroupM.

Kevin Johnson brings over 20 years of experience in advertising and marketing to his new position. Before his time at GroupM, he was the CEO of MediaCom Canada, where he significantly boosted the agency’s business growth and public profile. Known as a strong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, Johnson has frequently spoken on the importance of fostering a more inclusive advertising industry, focusing on top-down DEI leadership.

Johnson thanked Arthur Fleischmann, his predecessor, for his contributions to WPP Canada and emphasized his eagerness to continue building on that foundation with a talented team.
