Burger King’s operator, Restaurant Brands Asia Ltd (RBA), posted a big jump in its financial performance in the first quarter of FY27 with revenue rising almost 18 per cent year-on-year and losses narrowing as the company posted its strongest same-store sales growth in 15 quarters.

Revenue from operations grew 17.9% to ₹822.6 crore in the April-June quarter compared with ₹697.7 crore in the year-ago period. Net loss declined to ₹33 crore from ₹45.4 crore in the year-ago period.

The company’s India business continued to be the key growth driver, contributing ₹682.8 crore to the company’s revenue in the quarter, followed by its Indonesia operations which added ₹139.7 crore.

Expansion Drive:

Restaurant Brands Asia has opened nine new outlets in India since 31 March 2026, increasing its network to 752 restaurants.

The company also reported a significant improvement in profitability with EBITDA (pre-Ind AS 116) jumping 265.7% YoY to ₹43.5 crore from ₹11.9 crore in the year-ago period on the back of improved operating efficiencies.

The quarter also saw a significant change in ownership with Inspira Global, the owner of homegrown quick-service restaurant brands like Chinese Wok, acquiring a 42% controlling stake in Restaurant Brands Asia.

Growth Outlook:

Inspira Global has invested ₹1,050 crore by way of issuance of fresh equity shares and warrants as part of the transaction. The company plans to use the proceeds from the exercise of warrants for a further investment of ₹450 crore, taking its shareholding to 48%.

The capital infusion has strengthened the balance sheet and will help restaurant expansion, brand-building initiatives, digital investments and long-term growth, Restaurant Brands Asia said.

Commenting on the results, Rajeev Varman, Whole-time Director & Group Chief Executive Officer of Restaurant Brands Asia said, “This quarter was an important step in our path toward sustainable and profitable growth.

"We have built upon the positive momentum from the second half of last year and delivered strong growth in restaurant and company operating profits. Our continued focus on value, menu innovation, digital capabilities and disciplined execution enabled us to achieve our strongest quarterly same-store sales growth in the last fifteen quarters," Varman said.

Burger King Indonesia will continue to improve its restaurant EBITDA and the entry of Inspira Global as the new promoter will assist in enhancing operational efficiency, speeding up growth and creating long-term value for shareholders with its expertise in the food service industry, he added.
