Chandrayaan-3 reaches close to moon: shares first images and videos

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has made significant strides in its Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission, showcasing its latest achievements with stunning images of the Moon. On August 5, 2023, the spacecraft successfully entered lunar orbit without a hitch, marking a major milestone for India's third lunar mission.

The much-awaited moment arrived when ISRO released the first images of the Moon as viewed by the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft during the Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI). The space agency took to Twitter to share the captivating visuals, capturing the awe-inspiring lunar surface from the spacecraft's perspective.

The spacecraft's communication with ISRO was nothing short of exhilarating. After successfully escaping Earth's gravity and covering an incredible distance of 384,400 km, Chandrayaan-3 transmitted its first message, "I am feeling lunar gravity," to the space agency. This triumphant message celebrated the craft's entry into the Moon's orbit, reaffirming ISRO's expertise in space exploration.

Since its launch aboard the LVM-3 on July 14, Chandrayaan-3 has been on an eventful 40-day lunar journey, with Saturday marking the completion of 22 days of this voyage. Throughout this period, the spacecraft's health has been diligently monitored from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru. Thanks to the exceptional support provided by Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) antennas at Byalalu, near Bengaluru, Chandrayaan-3's health remains in optimal condition.

As India's third lunar mission progresses with unwavering success, ISRO's achievements are capturing global attention and admiration. The organization's dedication, precision, and scientific prowess are evident in every step of Chandrayaan-3's groundbreaking journey.

The release of these captivating lunar images and the seamless execution of critical maneuvers are testaments to ISRO's position as a leading player in space exploration. As Chandrayaan-3 ventures deeper into space, the entire nation eagerly awaits more awe-inspiring discoveries and breakthroughs from this historic mission.
