PV Sindhu Joins Hoop as Strategic Investor and Brand Ambassador
PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, has partnered with wellness brand Hoop as a strategic investor and brand ambassador. This collaboration aims to modernize relief and recovery products, making fitness an integral part of India's lifestyle.
PV Sindhu, the celebrated two-time Olympic medalist, has joined forces with Hoop as both a strategic investor and brand ambassador. This partnership signifies a major step forward in Hoop’s mission to become India's leading wellness brand, focusing on modernizing relief and recovery solutions and integrating fitness into everyday life.
Founded by former McKinsey consultants Twinkle Uppal and Saharsh Agarwal, Hoop is dedicated to addressing the evolving wellness needs of modern India. "Hoop was born from the unmet wellness needs of young India. Our lifestyles have changed - from muscle recovery after workouts to injury prevention, and managing back and neck pain from long sitting hours and tech device use," explained Uppal. Hoop's product range includes topical pain relief, muscle recovery, and sleep support solutions.
Sindhu, speaking on her decision to partner with Hoop, stated, "Badminton demands peak physical performance. Prioritizing pain relief, muscle recovery, and sleep is crucial for athletes like myself. I have used Hoop products for months and am impressed with their value for anyone living an active life. I'm excited to support Hoop's mission to help India live actively."
Agarwal highlighted Sindhu's alignment with the brand's values, stating, "Sindhu embodies the spirit of a champion with her remarkable achievements and dedication. As the only Indian Badminton World Champion and a two-time Olympic medalist, she is a credible voice in fitness. We are proud of her trust in Hoop."
Before launching in October 2023, Hoop’s co-founders dedicated over 18 months to research and development. The brand quickly gained traction, reaching customers in over 1000 cities across India, from metros to remote areas like Lakshadweep and Kargil.
Hoop is supported by Peak XV’s Spark Program and a group of prominent angel investors, including industry leaders like Rohit Kapoor (CEO, Swiggy Food Marketplace) and Abhinav Sinha (COO, OYO).
A recent Lancet study highlights that India has a high prevalence of insufficient physical activity, but trends are shifting among younger generations. With a growing emphasis on wellness, the consumer wellness market in India, valued at approximately $20 billion, is expanding rapidly at over 15% annually.
