A packet of Melody toffees gifted by Narendra Modi to Giorgia Meloni during their meeting in Rome has unexpectedly turned into a viral brand moment for Parle Products.
The interaction quickly gained traction online after Meloni shared a video on social media captioned, “Thank you for the gift.”
In the clip, the Italian Prime Minister was seen holding the packet of Melody toffees and describing it as a “very, very good toffee”, while PM Modi responded by saying “Melody” before both leaders smiled and held up the pack together.

Viral ‘Melodi’ Moment:
The exchange immediately triggered online discussion because of its connection to the viral “Melodi” meme, a social media trend that playfully combines parts of Modi and Meloni’s surnames.
The meme had already gained popularity online for highlighting the friendly public interactions between the two leaders, standing apart from the traditionally formal tone of diplomatic engagements.
For Parle Products, the moment translated into an unexpected surge in international brand visibility.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Mayank Shah described the development as significant for the company and appreciated the gesture.

Global Brand Visibility:
According to Shah, the moment was “a nice way of pushing Indian products” and giving them a larger global platform.
Shah also shared his reaction on LinkedIn, calling the moment a matter of pride for the company.
“It is a moment of immense pride for all of us at Parle Products. When Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gifts Parle Melody to world leaders, it is a powerful testament to the potential of Swadeshi brands on the global stage,” Shah wrote.
Founded in Mumbai in 1929, Parle Products has grown into one of India’s largest food and confectionery companies with products spanning biscuits, snacks and sweets.
Melody remains among the company’s most recognisable confectionery brands and built strong consumer recall through its caramel shell and chocolate-filled centre.
The product also became widely associated with the iconic advertising line “Melody khao, khud jaan jao”, which remained familiar across multiple generations of Indian consumers.
According to Shah, Melody is already available in more than 100 countries globally, and Italy could potentially emerge as an important market for the product following the viral moment.
The company also clarified that it currently has no plans for a stock market listing.
Meanwhile, social media users quickly turned the interaction into meme content, with many joking that Parle had received “brand ambassadors” it could never have planned for, while others described the incident as a “marketing jackpot” achieved without running an advertising campaign.
